American Comics: The Girl Next Door is Spider-Gwen

Chapter 62: Skye’s Mischievous Side! Barbara Catches On Instantly!

Ghost Spider Club.

"Phew~ All clear on this end~"

Skye was working on the computer.

She was monitoring live surveillance footage.

The screen showed the supervillain Scorpion carrying off Black Cat and being pursued by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.

Gwen and her team's new combat suits were highly intelligent, with certain hacking capabilities, which greatly reduced the workload for Skye as their support.

All she needed to do was connect and guide them; Gwen's combat suits could automatically retrieve the footage.

The "fake" logistics officer: Daisy Johnson.

The "real" logistics officer: Tony Stark.

"Want some ice cream?"

"Thanks~"

A lychee-flavored cone was handed to her from behind, and Skye instinctively took it—

Then... huh? That voice!

She slammed her laptop shut!

Turning to look behind her—

Sure enough, it was a blonde beauty!

"Barbara!"

Skye asked, "When did you get here?"

This was someone from S.H.I.E.L.D.

If she saw Skye spying on S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, it wouldn't look good...

"I just got here~"

Barbara blinked her Gwen-like blue eyes.

"What are you doing?"

"Nothing."

Skye calmed herself. "Just browsing the web. Thanks for the ice cream."

"You're welcome~ Can I ask you some things?"

Barbara pulled up a chair and sat beside Skye. "About Ye Li."

"About Li?"

Skye initially thought Barbara wanted to ask about the club or Ghost Spider's identity, but it turned out to be about Ye Li.

Li isn't an ordinary person, so what's there to ask?

Ah... although his palm can emit faint blue currents and golden "slime" (Golden Light Spell, which Skye mistook as golden slime)...

But it doesn't have much combat power.

At best, it's a fancy trick... or has certain intimate applications...

So, Li is still just an ordinary person—or so Skye thought.

"I heard you're his little assistant."

Barbara probed, "Do you know what he likes?"

Ye Li wasn't Barbara's main mission target, but she found herself increasingly curious about him.

Perhaps because she had been seen through before, she developed a competitive drive to uncover Ye Li's true nature!

"His likes, huh~"

Skye felt there wasn't much harm in sharing and replied, "What could he like? Just lazing around and playing every day~"

Barbara pulled out a small notebook and jotted it down. "Can you be more specific? Like any hobbies?"

"Specific? Hobbies?"

Skye tilted her head in thought.

"Like painting? Hmm… maybe. Although he takes forever to finish, he does like drawing beautiful women."

Drawing beautiful women?

Barbara thought to herself... that's not a bad hobby.

Letting him draw her wouldn't cost her anything, and it'd be a good excuse to get closer!

Now that she had some information, she eagerly pressed Skye further, "What else? What else?"

"Anything else?"

Skye racked her brain.

"Just small hobbies, like doing little magic tricks or practicing martial arts..."

Martial arts!

Barbara latched onto the keyword. This was something she was good at! Noted, noted!

She leaned forward, leaving her chair, and propped both hands on the white table in front of her.

"Then... does he have any more private hobbies?"

Barbara leaned closer to Skye. "Like—do you think he'd like this color I'm wearing today?"

She was wearing a loose V-neck white T-shirt, and from this angle, Skye could see into her neckline...

"?"

"You're not trying to seduce Li, are you?"

Skye gave Barbara a strange look.

She realized that Barbara had indeed been dressing more attractively these days...

But since Ye Li hadn't been to the club much lately, Barbara's efforts were like casting flirtatious looks at a blind man.

"What do you mean by 'seduce'? I know your relationship with him isn't exactly normal either."

Barbara adjusted her collar with a flirtatious charm and lied to Skye. "Outstanding men always attract women. I'm just drawn to him~"

Skye looked skeptical—Yeah, right!

What is this S.H.I.E.L.D. agent up to?

Skye figured Barbara wasn't planning anything good, so she decided to play along mischievously—

"Something more private, huh..."

She decided to mess with Barbara.

"Li has a thing for mouth—oral cleaning... yeah, he often goes to professional dental clinics for it."

As she spoke.

Skye even winked at Barbara~

"He's just very clean, you know~"

Barbara's face flushed. "He likes that?"

Ah, the quirks of American culture—where innuendo is common knowledge.

With such "cultural awareness" and Skye deliberately drawing out her words to suggest something else, Barbara instantly understood...
