Chapter 15 - Battle for the Husband
“What’s her magic?”
Wu Chen asked curiously.
“Ah… cough, that’s a top-secret!”
Litia realized she almost let something slip and quickly changed her tune.
“Top-secret?”
“Yes, do you think I didn’t put in a ton of effort to bring Dainy to my side? The witches who know about her magic are all eyeing it covetously!”
“If such a secret were revealed and other witches found out, it would definitely lead to another witch war!”
Litia said seriously.
“Is it that serious? I’m not going to tell anyone. Don’t you trust me?”
Wu Chen asked.
“It’s not about not trusting you; witches have all sorts of strange powers. The more people who know, the greater the risk. Alright, let’s go to sleep. Because of you, I couldn’t even take my milk bath tonight.”
Litia huffed, pulling the covers over herself and turning her back to Wu Chen.
“Actually, you can take it now. We could even bathe together; I don’t mind.”
“You don’t mind, but I do! Go to sleep!”
Litia snapped her fingers, turning off the ghostly fire lamp floating in midair.
The room was instantly enveloped in darkness.
Only the barrier separating the two remained, faintly glowing with a deep purple light.
Although Litia couldn’t harm him, Wu Chen also couldn’t break through the barrier at the moment. He could only lie down on the soft bed and close his eyes.
Having found himself in the villain’s domain on the very first day of his reincarnation, he was actually quite tense mentally, trying to stay alive.
Once he relaxed, he quickly fell into a deep sleep.
…………
In the vast palace of the witch, in the dark corners, blood-red and fierce eyes opened, watching everything around them intently. No movement escaped their gaze.
In the shadows of the palace’s first floor and the surrounding boundaries, her spies were hidden.
On the second floor, in the dense and eerie jungle, man-eating flowers and vines were growing wildly. The Elven Empress, dressed in a white veil, leaned against the bamboo bed, silently gazing at a piece of cracked emerald jade she held, looking troubled.
On the third floor of the palace, among jagged, rocky cliffs, a massive, mysterious black figure coiled atop a mountain peak, silent and unmoving.
On the fourth floor, in the endless deep sea, countless shadows flickered in the darkness, with a pair of clear eyes watching the ocean swallowed by darkness.
On the fifth floor, amidst the vast starry galaxy, dark and pure white feathers drifted across the chaotic radiant sky.
At the very top, in the witch’s private quarters, the previously panicked cow maid looked around to ensure no one was watching, then took out a small gem engraved with strange patterns from her ample bosom.
An extra-dimensional pocket, a special ability of the cowfolk tribe, allows them to carry a bound extra-dimensional space.
“Master, I have successfully infiltrated the witch Litia’s quarters. She shouldn’t have discovered my identity.”
“Good, it was indeed the right choice to have the cowfolk tribe do this. Your clan’s racial talent, ‘Extra-Dimensional Bag,’ can evade the Void Detection of the Evil Eye clan.”
The gem reflected a slender and alluring female figure.
Her long silver hair was adorned with black roses and silver crescent hairpins, tied into twin tails. She wore a close-fitting silver silk cheongsam, adorned with black and gold seductive petals and stems.
Her arms were covered with silken silver-white gloves, and her slender legs were wrapped in smooth white stockings, with delicate feet in white-gold high heels that gently swayed.
The only flaw was the flat chest, a stark contrast to the large and imposing maid figure on the gem.
“Master, I’ve accomplished what you asked. You won’t go back on your promise, will you?”
“Of course, I, the Full Moon Witch, always keep my word. Now tell me, after infiltrating, did you uncover anything?”
The Full Moon Witch brushed her silver hair and blinked her crimson eyes, asking with interest.
“Tonight, I successfully recorded the conversation between Litia and a mysterious man. Please review it.”
Dainy pressed the crystal to her ample chest and transmitted the recorded images through her magic.
The images and sounds displayed were of Wu Chen convincing Litia that he was a divine envoy of the Mother Goddess and that marrying him would allow her to inherit the Mother Goddess’s powers!
“Oh? An envoy of the Mother Goddess?”
“Marrying him would make her the successor to the Mother Goddess? Such a huge opportunity!?”
The Full Moon Witch’s eyes lit up, and the full moon glowing with silvery moonlight was reflected in her pupils.
“Hmph, Litia, you pride yourself on being aloof, but you’re so foolish and naive when it comes to matters of the heart.”
“You’re squandering such a valuable opportunity; don’t blame your sisters for snatching away your right to the Mother Goddess’s inheritance.”
Her silver moon-engraved eyes fixed on the image of Wu Chen on the screen, and she couldn’t help but lick her lips.
“This man, I’m going to claim him!”
“This man, I must have him!”
“He is mine!”
Just as the Full Moon Witch spoke, several other identical voices joined in.
Snapping back to reality, she noticed several beautiful silhouettes reflected in the floating crystal stones around her.
“Tch, I almost forgot. This information is shared with all of you. If I had known, I would’ve acted alone.”
The Full Moon Witch clicked her tongue in frustration.
“Hmph, Xia Yueyun, you think it’s that simple? Without the combined abilities of us sisters, do you think it would have been easy to send an undercover agent into Litia’s palace?”
“We all cooperated to avoid being trampled under Litia’s feet and to share the undercover information, trying to find her weaknesses or vulnerabilities, didn’t we?”
The shadow in one of the crystals smiled.
“Double-agent Witch, I know your contributions are here; you don’t need to remind me.”
Xia Yueyun snorted coldly.
“I’m called the Betrayal Witch, not the Double-Agent Witch!”
The figure in the crystal protested angrily.
“If you don’t like that name, how about calling yourself the Backstab Witch?”
Xia Yueyun continued to mock.
Though she was reluctant, she had to admit the fact: Litia’s witch palace was tightly guarded. Without the collaboration of several witches, it would have been impossible to sneak Dainy in undetected.
“Litia calls herself the strongest witch, acting tyrannically and never taking us seriously. That’s why we cooperated to send in a spy and share the intelligence, trying to find her weakness or vulnerability.”
“It’s like finding a needle in a haystack, yet here we are, effortlessly obtaining the method to surpass Litia in our first intelligence sharing.”
Another crystal revealed a graceful figure in ancient Eastern attire, lightly waving a folding fan.
“Why are you, the Feminist Witch, looking for men instead of focusing on female empowerment?”
Xia Yueyun gave her a sideways glance.
“Why does it matter to you? And I’m called the Matriarch Witch, not some Feminist Witch!”
“If you keep coming up with random names, Full Moon Witch, will you also be called the Chongyang Witch or the Fawning Witch?”
The figure protested.
“I actually quite like the Chongyang Witch name; it complements Full Moon Witch nicely. Feel free to call me that.”
Xia Yueyun shrugged.
“Enough, now is not the time for arguing over witch titles. Betrayal Witch, Full Moon Witch, Matriarch Witch.”
A sudden ethereal voice immediately quieted the arguing witches.
“Unlucky… ahem, I mean Misfortune Witch, it’s rare to see you make an appearance.”
Xia Yueyun realized she almost used the wrong nickname and quickly corrected herself.
“Were you about to call me the Unlucky Witch? Haha, I actually quite like that name. At least it’s better than being called the Poverty Witch now that I’ve gained control over the power of destitution.”
“As for this Mother Goddess’s envoy, it’s meaningless for us to argue here. Why don’t we all keep our mouths shut, not tell anyone else, and compete freely among ourselves using our own abilities? What do you think?”
The Misfortune Witch’s ethereal voice proposed.
The witches agreed in unison, “Sounds good to me!”
The battle for Wu Chen begins today!
