After the truth

I had not been expecting that at all. I was sure she and Fabian were close considering how he was around her a lot. Something I missed last time.

"Are you talking about Fabian?" I ask because I had to confirm.

"Oh I don't know, do you happen to anyone else here?" she asked sarcastically.

Well she had a point there but I needed to know why she thought that. She had never shown such strong emotions before. She was mostly calm.

"Is there a reason why you're saying that about him? Don't worry I won't say anything to him…" I stop as I hear her scoff at what I'm saying. Does she not trust me? Of course she wouldn't I'm supposed to be his best friend.

"Listen Milo, he didn't do anything I just don't like him? He's too attached to me. He needs to back off." She said her composure regained.

Well I guess some people can never be friends. I remembered Michelle was meeting them too.

"Michelle's going to be there to plus I'm coming so do you need to skip it?" I ask

She rolls her eyes at me and puts put her cigarettes.

"I said I'm not going I don't have time to deal with stuck up Michelle."

I had a lot of opinions about Michelle but stuck up wasn't one of them. I couldn't picture her being friends with me.

"She makes me a little uncomfortable, nice innocent girls like that don't sit right with me." I said honestly.

"RIGHT? She's needs better acting lessons, I can see it through her three layer make up that she's fake." she said

Aira wasn't the type to gossip about people but that was my view and her doing it here so blatantly and openly. I needed to know why she didn't like Michelle.

"Did she do anything to you for you to dislike this much?" I ask

She laughs at this and looks me dead in the eye before saying.

"Dislike? No I just talk shit about her and smile at her the next day, it's called being a bitch. I'm going home now. Tell Fabian I said bye." she said and left me there.

That was extremely weird but it helped me learn something new about her. She didn't regard any of us as her friends she never did before and after she left. Was I wrong? Did she really decide to do all this to everyone. Why did she tell me then? Why did she reveal this side to me? Was she telling something I didn't know?

I see Fabian running towards me and he asks

"Where is Aira?"

"She left she told me to tell you bye she said she had stuff to do." I tell him

He justs nods and I remembered and asked him if he still going out to eat with Michelle.

"Oh? Yes? You still coming?" he asks

He went back to the Fabian I knew which made me even sure that he had feelings for Aira. I nod and he gives me the address to the restaurant. Did he expect me to go dress up or something. I wasn't doing that.

I take a taxi to the restaurant still dressed in the same outfit and I see Michelle in the far corner of the restaurant. She had thick blonde hair with pink highlights which was weird but I had gotten used to it. She also had sapphire blue eyes but that wasn't her real eye colour. She wore medical lenses something I found out later.

I wave to her and she smiles at me. I take the sit opposite her which makes her frown. I didn't like her enough to sit with her. I needed to find out more about her and Aira so I get up and sit with her and this makes her happy for some reason.

"So where's Aira and Fabian?" she asks me

"Oh Aira isn't coming, Fabian is though he'll be here any minute." I tell her

"Oh that's too bad. I was looking forward to eating with her. Can't be helped though." she said

I know you're happy about it, just be less obvious about it. For the record I know Michelle likes me but I can't like her back as she made me weirdly uncomfortable. Her family is closely related to the new government system so having as a friend wasn't a bad idea. I'll have to use her then.

"It doesn't matter if she doesn't come. We're not close anyway. I was happy to hear you were the who recommended it." I tell her enthusiastically.

She looks happy at this. How simple minded she was to believe that I suddenly like her after giving her the cold shoulder for years.

I hear the door open and see Fabian come in, heavily overdressed. I don't know who he was trying to impress but this was a bit much.

"You two having been waiting long right?" he asked us.

" Actually we have took you long enough." I joke.

This wasn't received well by Fabian and after giving me a once over. He says,

"Ah, unlike you I put an effort to look presentable unlike someone here."

This was something you'd say in 1950 not now so I wasn't even offended by it. So I just shrug at him.

We eat the tasteless food served here and I couldn't stand it and decide to leave but had an idea.

"Michelle? How will you get home?" I ask

"Oh my drivers coming to pick me why do you ask?" she asked

My opportunity to bond wasn't destroyed but I had to try.

"Oh just wanted to walk you home." I said

Fabian laughs at this and I ignore him.

"Oh you can I'll tell my driver I'll get home on my own" said Michelle.

I knew she'd do that she was too predictable. Now I'll have to see how her family is linked to the war that will happen a few years from now.

This time I'll change something and learn about not just Aira but other people as well because clearly there's more than what meets the eye.
