Chapter 72 - Store (1)
The horses’ hooves clattered, carrying the people on their backs all the way down the trail.
Zang Ya watched as An Yun rode away, then turned around and left.
While heading back, Zang Ya asked Qing Yue, who walked beside him, “Has everyone been sent here?”
Qing Yue nodded toward Zang Ya, her tone affirmative. “They arrived last night.”
Zang Ya added, “I will take them there later. Remember to cover their eyes and don’t let them look around. By the way, if there is an error, resolve it immediately. There must be no loopholes in this matter.”
“Yes,” Qing Yue replied, lowering her gaze in agreement.
Zang Ya nodded and continued walking further inside. As he walked, he said, “By the way, the things delivered over the past few days will be placed in the west wing for now. They will be assigned locations after the passage is completed.”
“Yes, I understand.”
Zang Ya took another glance in the direction where An Yun left, calculating the time for his return. He planned to write a letter to his father later to explain the situation and then go to inspect the area.
When An Yun arrived at the villa for the first time, he was completely distracted by Zang Ya’s condition and the scenery around him. However, he kept thinking about the situation at the store in the city. After all, that store was his first store in this life.
One day, Zang Ya seemed to notice his unease. While laying on the bed with his head half-propped up, reading a book, he directly asked An Yun, who sat nearby, looking worried, “What’s wrong? What’s troubling you?”
An Yun raised his head and looked at Zang Ya. After hesitating for a moment, he voiced his concerns. Once he finished speaking, he felt embarrassed. Considering Zang Ya was still unwell, it probably wasn’t the right time to bother him with such a minor issue.
But after listening, Zang Ya put down the book he was holding, took An Yun’s hand, and gently stroked it. In a warm tone, he said, “You miss that shop very much? If you do, why not go and take a look? It will make you feel more at ease.”
Hearing this, An Yun pursed his lips, his gaze becoming more conflicted as he looked at Zang Ya.
“What’s the matter? Is something making it difficult?” Zang Ya asked, his tone unusually considerate, as if he knew exactly how to probe gently.
An Yun hesitated for a while before whispering, “The road to the city from here is too far. If I go by carriage, it will take two hours round trip. I don’t want to waste that much time.”
The road wasn’t particularly rough, but it was a dirt path, making it hard to traverse. If it rained and the road turned muddy, it could take even longer for the carriage to get through.
After hearing An Yun’s concerns, Zang Ya chuckled. Under An Yun’s puzzled gaze, he said, “What’s so difficult about this? If you’re worried about wasting time on a carriage, why not ride a horse? Riding would save you a lot of time.”
An Yun’s eyes lit up as he realized the idea was feasible. His body had recovered significantly, and since he exercised daily, he felt confident he could manage horseback riding.
Seeing An Yun’s joy, Zang Ya instinctively smiled, his happiness mirroring An Yun’s. Without hesitation, he pulled An Yun closer and kissed him.
By now, An Yun was accustomed to Zang Ya’s tendency to kiss him. Since it seemed to bring Zang Ya joy, An Yun was willing to cooperate and wouldn’t spoil the moment.
Once Zang Ya kissed him to his heart’s content, he noticed they still had time. Without delay, he took An Yun to the back of the villa, ready to start practicing with him.
Although An Yun had visited many places in the past few days, the backyard was a place he had never been to. When he went to the backyard, An Yun discovered that there were quite a few horses, donkeys, and mules there.
An Yun felt a little strange when he saw those animals. Something flashed in his mind, and he was a little confused as to why there would be so many means of transportation there. In his impression, raising these animals required a lot of food. And it seemed that they didn’t need it in their current situation.
But before An Yun could think about what those animals were for, Zang Ya called the horse herd and asked him to pick out an obedient horse. As the white horse was led out, An Yun’s mind was drawn to it, and he forgot about the strange place.
In the next few days, Zang Ya taught An Yun step by step how to ride a horse, how to protect himself when the horse was frightened, and how to prevent a bigger injury if he accidentally fell off the horse. These things were taught to An Yun one by one.
When An Yun had learned almost everything, Zang Ya personally accompanied him on the road from the villa to the city, and then he let him wander alone, feeling relieved.
But even though An Yun had almost learned everything, when he went to the city, Zang Ya still sent two attendants to follow An Yun back and forth every day to ensure his safety along the way.
On this day, under Zang Ya’s watch, An Yun arrived at the city with two attendants on horseback.
Shopkeeper Xu had arrived at the store long before and was currently in the store, looking proudly at the newly renovated space.
Hearing the movement from behind, Shopkeeper Xu immediately turned around. After seeing An Yun coming off the horse, he immediately greeted him, saluted in his direction, and said respectfully, “My boss.”
An Yun nodded toward Shopkeeper Xu and finally looked up at the store. He saw that the originally empty store had been very neatly taken care of, with many elegant and simple decorations in various places.
An Yun took a look inside and determined that, except for the details that still needed to be worked on, the store was almost ready, so he felt relieved.
