Chapter 98:
Chapter 98:
Under the crimson glow of the blood moon, chaos engulfed Black Wind City.
Within the city, members of the Demon Sect made their move, and Qin Fei’s scheme began to unfold. Xiao Yang stood calmly atop the mountain ridge outside the city, watching the drama play out like a staged performance.
This wasn’t Demon Sect territory, yet these remnants brazenly stirred trouble, disregarding the authority of the powers that ruled the city. Xiao Yang knew better. He remembered the fearsome entity lurking within the city—an entity of such power that its awakening in his past life had shaken the heavens and the earth.
Tonight, under the blood moon, the great demon hidden beneath Black Wind City sought to harness the convergence of yin energy to break through to a higher realm of cultivation. The intrusion by the Demon Sect could only enrage this dormant beast, but the demon seemed in no hurry to act.
Back in the plaza, a figure suddenly descended from the sky, shattering the protective lightning barrier with a single strike. The disciples within—Jiang Ting, Qin Fei, Lei Renjie, and the others—were thrown back, coughing blood. The protective barrier, capable of withstanding the full might of a peak Heavenly Martial Realm master, had been destroyed with one palm strike. The power behind this attack was undeniable—a Martial God Realm expert had arrived.
The figure landed gracefully, emanating an aura of disdain. “So this is the Azure Sun Sword Sect? What a grand name for such pitiful disciples,” he sneered.
“You…” Jiang Ting and Lei Renjie were both furious and terrified.
The two disciples of the Blade Demon, Li Kuang, rushed forward and bowed. “Greetings, Senior Ming He!”
From his perch on the mountain ridge, Xiao Yang immediately recognized the newcomer. Ming He, one of Qin Fei’s three demon generals, had arrived. Alongside Yin Yue and the remnants of the Demon Sect, Ming He’s presence was proof that Qin Fei had mobilized considerable resources for this scheme.
“Capture them all!” Ming He commanded.
From the surrounding darkness, a dozen Demon Sect members surged forward. Yin Yue, who had been playing her flute on a nearby rooftop, stowed the instrument and retrieved a bag. She opened it toward the plaza, and countless black-scaled brain-eating lizards flew into the air, swiftly returning to the bag. The controlled undead collapsed where they stood.
The disciples of the Azure Sun Sword Sect, wounded by Ming He’s initial attack, were now powerless to resist.
“Who dares lay a hand on my senior sister!” Qin Fei roared, rising unsteadily to his feet and placing himself in front of Jiang Ting.
At last, his moment to shine had arrived. The heroic act of risking his life to save Jiang Ting was about to begin.
Xiao Yang, observing from the mountain, nearly laughed out loud. Everything was unfolding just as he had anticipated.
“Junior Brother, don’t worry about me! Run!” Jiang Ting cried, her voice filled with urgency.
“Senior Sister, how could I abandon you?” Qin Fei declared, shielding her with his body.
“You’re courting death!” A Demon Sect disciple stepped forward, throwing a vicious punch at Qin Fei’s face. A
lready weakened, Qin Fei was knocked to the ground, where the sect members mercilessly kicked and punched him.
“Trying to play the hero? Pathetic!” they sneered.
“Leave him alone! Take me instead!” Jiang Ting pleaded desperately.
“Of course, we’re coming for you,” one of them leered. “Such a delicate beauty—we wouldn’t miss this opportunity.”
“You scoundrels!” Qin Fei struggled to his feet, placing himself protectively in front of Jiang Ting once again. His performance was so convincing that Xiao Yang couldn’t help but admire the effort. Qin Fei was truly risking everything to win Jiang Ting’s favor.
Moved by his actions, Jiang Ting’s heart overflowed with emotion. “Junior Brother…”
The Demon Sect members laughed mockingly. “Not just her—we’ll take all three of them,” they jeered, eyeing Yun Qianxue and Ye Qingyao.
“Don’t you dare!” Qin Fei begged, his voice filled with despair.
Before the situation could escalate further, the ground suddenly trembled. White silk threads shot out from beneath the earth, wrapping around Jiang Ting and the others, pulling them underground.
The sudden turn of events caught everyone off guard. Several Demon Sect members were ensnared by the threads and dragged underground, their terrified screams abruptly silenced.
“What… is this?” Ming He exclaimed, stunned.
The ground cracked open, and more white threads emerged, reaching for everyone. Ming He and the Blade Demon’s disciples immediately took to the sky, watching in disbelief as the plaza’s illusions dissipated, revealing piles of real corpses.
With a deafening rumble, the plaza collapsed, leaving behind a dark, yawning pit. Two threads shot out, snaring the Blade Demon’s disciples.
“No!” They slashed at the threads with their blades, but the silk was impervious to their attacks. In moments, they were pulled into the abyss, their cries fading into silence.
“What’s going on?” Yin Yue asked, her voice tinged with fear.
“How would I know?” Ming He snapped, his composure faltering.
Meanwhile, Lei Lie, the Azure Sun Sword Sect’s enforcer, noticed the chaos and attempted to return to the plaza. However, each of his attempts was thwarted by the Blade Demon himself.
“Li Kuang, you’re courting death!” Lei Lie roared, his fury igniting as he launched a barrage of lightning-infused attacks. Yet, Li Kuang countered each strike with his own deadly precision, keeping Lei Lie occupied.
“You’re too late,” Li Kuang sneered before abruptly retreating. “See you next time!” With a taunting laugh, he disappeared into the darkness.
“Damn it!” Lei Lie shouted, his rage echoing across the battlefield.
From his vantage point, Xiao Yang watched it all unfold, a knowing smirk on his face. He understood what was happening—beneath Black Wind City, the fearsome entity was beginning to awaken.
