A Villainess pulled out the Sword instead of the Hero.

Chapter 6

 ⚔︎

Duke Fay has been suffering from anxiety lately.

It was because of Morgana who suddenly entered the mansion, saying that her deceased mother had told of her origins.

From the appearance that resembles the Duke of Fay, to her power.

He had no reason to refuse her existence.

Judging from her personality, if he didn’t accept her, Morgana would have shouted around the whole continent, saying that she was the illegitimate daughter of Duke Fay.

‘Can’t they see that from my appearance…?’

Avalon was currently in a precarious situation ahead of the accession of a new king.

What’s wrong with not having the sword? The Duke could not curse it because he was from the lake fairy family and had power.

According to the scriptures, the Excalibur was a holy sword made by the lake fairy at a time when the continent was mixed with monsters and in chaos.

The fairies were afraid that the impure would covet the Excalibur.

So when the holy sword was held in the hands of the unqualified, they created the sword with their own hands and cared for the wounded.

It was because only the ability of fairies could heal the wounds inflicted by the holy sword.

Since then, there has been no story about whom the sword was handed over to or where it existed.

It became only just a legend that Excalibur brought stability to the continent, and Avalon and Britain were founded from the neutral area of the lake.

However, more than 100 years ago, the Excalibur, which should only remain a legend, suddenly appeared stuck in the lake.

The continent was turned upside down by the sudden appearance of the Holy Sword.

“The Holy Sword fell into the hands of the restless.”

“No. It is a revelation from God to protect the continent from evil again! Demonic monsters will infest the continent soon!”

“Well, isn’t it just outside Britain’s borders now?”

“Well, what do you think, Duke Fay?”

The Duke had no idea how the sword came to resurface. However, in Avalon, he was responsible for the appearance of the Holy Sword because he was a member of the Lake Fairy family.

The fierce hypothesis was outlined as an oracle with the newly born saint.

[Chaos will come to the continent. Thus, the one who pulls the sword will become king of Britain again, establishing order and ruling the continent.]

After the birth of Princess Guinevere in Britain, the position of the Fay family became even more precarious.

Since Guinevere received the oracle that she would marry the one who pulls the sword, it’s a fact that a person who would draw the sword would appear in this generation.

Even before the oracle came down, Avalon, as well as the royal bloodline and the nobility, tried to draw the sword once, but the sword did not budge every time.

If anyone was able to pull the sword, he would become the King of Britain and rule the continent, war was inevitable.

In the meantime, if they find out that an illegitimate child with healing powers disappeared from the House of the Lake Fairy family and came from Britain.

‘It may have been a long time since there may be a meeting of the elders…’

Many emerging aristocrats looked down on Fay, who had been in power for a long time.

If it were a new king, he would be the one who would pay for the responsibility of sowing the seeds of power without hesitation and throw out the Fay family.

Morgana was something that should not be revealed either outside of the continent or even inside the capitol.

‘I didn’t know the woman I met at the lake festival was from Britain…’

Duke Fay thought.

If I knew, I wouldn’t have even had that brief encounter.

Regrets were late, and Morgana was already grown, and she came to find him.

From the first day, he was very angry for putting her hand on Morgause’s face, but she didn’t even pretend to listen.

Duke Fay tried imprisonment, anger, and conciliation, but each time Morgana said the same thing.

“You’re not my father, so don’t tell me what to do,” sneered Morgana.

Morgana even pointed out the fact that she had not yet been named as an illegitimate child.

In the aristocratic society, a family came before love.

The duty of the nobility was to meet and marry, with good ancestry in a good family, and to have children.

In many cases, they married without even seeing their faces, and usually, they lived apart after having children.

Then, when I met with someone new, it was a repetition of an affair and breaking up.

Freddie was one of those ordinary nobles.

I didn’t know Morgana would be born.

The fact that she was from Britain was also a pain in the ass, but everything she did was shameless.

‘With the temper of throwing a fork at her hand from the first day.’

She had no manners because she grew up on the street.

Morgana had no intention of learning or listening.

However, if I were to obediently listen, she would scream at me to bring everything she wanted.

“Why do you give Morgause and Elaine forks with rhombus ends and round ones for me? Bring me the same one right now!” shouted Morgana.

The words Duke Fay had heard the day she first came, staring into her resentful eyes, lingered in his mind.

“While I’m struggling like this, crawling on the floor, did you guys eat and live comfortably?” said Morgana.

As Morgana said with his head down, she was eager for compensation.

Freddie, who was looking at the papers in his office, was startled by the noises coming through the window.

“Olia! You can’t do that!” exclaimed Morgana.

“Why, why? Can’t I?” asked Olia.

“If you touch it, you’ll die!”

Just hearing Morgana’s voice already made my temples throb.

“Why is the annex building so close to the office?”

Looking at the way she shouted, I thought she was harassing her maid again.

I didn’t want to care as much as I could.

Conversations should be made with people who can communicate, not with people who unilaterally insist on their own words, like Morgana.

‘Yesterday she acted a little differently, but…’

I remember her looking down with her moist eyes, whether she reflected on herself.

It seemed quite pitiful that I shook my head in disbelief.

‘Who is crying? Morgana?’

Even a passing dog wouldn’t believe it.

Morgana was angry when Morgause tore a handful of hair, but she never cried.

The voices of the maids were heard outside again.

“Oh, this is it!”

“Finally, I found it!”

“Are you going to sell this too?”

“Sure. I’ll have to sell it expensively.”

Morgana was now extorting money from the servants.

You threatened the servant earlier that they’d die if they touched it, but now you’re getting paid too much.

‘How far are you going…!’

I couldn’t believe she’s been carrying around a money bag for the past few days.

She seemed to be extorting money from all over the place.

It wasn’t common for the surrounding maids to bow their heads.

“Barton!” Duke Fay called his aide out loud.

Barton, who was sipping tea without doing what he was told to do, calmly sat on the sofa and lifted the teacup.

“Your Excellency, do you want to have a drink, too?” (Barton)

“Is the tea going down your throat now?”

“Then shall I tell you that there has been no reply to the congratulatory letter to the royal family?” (Barton)

“Why are you telling me that now!”

The Duke of Fay breathed heavily.

The new king, who was about to be crowned, was ignoring the Fay family this much.

Even so, Avalon was on the verge of collapse.

Rumors circulated that quick-witted and resourceful aristocrats were already looking to buy the titles of Britain.

Some even pushed for a peaceful absorption.

In a situation where it would not be enough to embrace the Fay family to strengthen the royal authority, they did not even send a reply.

It’s a simple task that you could ask your aide to do anyway.

After taking a deep breath, Duke Fay suppressed his anger slowly opened his lips, and smiled.

Barton asked, putting down his glass familiarly, “Why are you doing that again? It’s scary.”

The new king was making a big mistake.

The king came, thinking that Fay had lost his power, but he had Morgana.

Although she’s an illegitimate child and has a dirty temper, it seems too early to give up, considering that she’s a bit docile these days.

Freddie spoke to Barton more calmly, “Morgan seems to be bothering the servants again.”

“Since Your Excellency doesn’t have enough time to drink tea, there’s always a crease between your brows.”

He’s excellent at his job, but sometimes that personality scratched Duke Fay’s stomach.

The Duke of Fay stood up from his seat and answered firmly, “I’ll have to get Morgana right now. I can’t stand this atrocity.”

“You wouldn’t have to.” (Barton)

“What?”

Whether he shaved Morgana’s head or threw her out a few days ago.

It was Barton who, at the very least, suggested wielding her powers to help the family.

And then suddenly he’s become a bystander.

Barton calmly took on the tea scent,  “I heard it’s a popular tea among people these days. I also bought it for 1 silver.”
