Chapter 263: False alarm
I walked towards the area that the supposed ghost type was known to frequent and I immediately spotted it. Not with my eyes but rather my aura senses that I kept extended nearly always and I couldn't help but laugh. It wasn't a Darkrai or even any sort of really dangerous or mean pokemon but rather a Mismagius. While indeed a ghost type the species was harmless for the most part and quite friendly if a bit shy. Like all pokemon though they had some heavy misinformation about them due to a few unfortunate incidents. -
The species sounded as though they were chanting incantations and with their dark purple ghostly forms and wide pointed witch hat looking heads it only took a few times of someone pissing one off for superstitions to start. Like all ghost type pokemon Mismagius held grudges for a LONG time and could be very vindictive if given the right motivation. Unfortunately this meant that they had some rather nasty stories attached to them that really failed to paint an accurate picture of the species. Honestly speaking if I didn't go looking for as much information as possible on every species in this world I might have been amongst those with a false image of them.-
"You've caused quite the headache for those in this place you know." I said with a chuckle while looking right at the wall that the pokemon was hiding behind. This surprised the ghost and I watched it drift to the side to test if I actually knew it was there or was bluffing. It was clearly even more surprised to see that I was still looking right at it even after it moved and hesitantly it left it's hiding place.-
"Ah I see! You probably evolved and immediately came into the city out of curiosity right?" I asked after seeing that it was only level forty three with appraise. Obviously this was a very young pokemon and as a result was likely only here in the city because it was interested in this place that must seem new and strange to it compared to the wild. I suppose I should point out that Mismagius and it's unevolved form Misdreavius are kinda shit parents in that they lay an egg and then bolt before it's even born.-
This meant that each individual had rather different experiences growing up and evolving compared to any others. For this one I assumed that it evolved a short while ago and randomly chose to follow a human back to the city and had been sneaking about since then but sucked at it since it had been spotted a bunch. "Mis Mis Ma!" the ghost spoke with a lilting tone that was quite eerie. Still thanks to my aura I roughly understood what it was trying to convey. "You got lost huh? Yeah you ghost types are never great with directions so that tracks." I said with an understanding nod. "Mismagius!" the ghost said offended at the comment.-
"It's nothing to be embarrassed about, it's simply part of your kinds nature after all. Come along, I'll take you to someone who will be more able to help you than I." I said casually before heading back to the pokecenter. The ghost floated behind me eagerly as I led the way and hid behind me shyly when we got some looks but I ignored that. The Joy sitting behind the counter was surprised to see me and downright dumbfounded when she saw the Mismagius.-
"She will be able to better help you than I will, not to worry she can be trusted." I said to the shy ghost who looked at the pinkette with a mixed expression of hesitancy and anticipation. "If I may ask how did you solve this matter so quickly, it's only been maybe an hour or two?" the Joy asked curiously after she coaxed the ghost over with some candy that it happily ate. "It should be common knowledge amongst your clan that i am an aura user, I simply locked onto this ones aura and told it that you'd be able to help it, it got lost in the city you see." I said calmly.-
"I see, thank you for indulging my curiosity. Now then I suppose you'll be wanting your reward then?" she asked and I nodded. It was a simple ten thousand poke reward which wasn't much at all but I was kinda out of liquid funds at the moment since i gave all I had to Duking so it was worth getting. There was also the quest rewards which were not anything impressive as it was the item tickets, pokemon ticket and a spell tag. -
I wasn't sure if I should even use the pokemon ticket as my current team still hadn't reached champion level yet much less higher than that and were only on average ten levels above one hundred. They still had another forty levels to go before they qualified as champion level and that didn't even include move mastery which was where most of our focus was at the moment. Even while we were on vacation and not training so hard we all still did some training. Taking it easy for a while was fine but stagnating was not for us. We probably could have hit champion in the seven or so months.
Doing so however would have meant that we missed that time to wind down after the rather stressful year we had had in Hoenn. Don't get me wrong Hoenn was a beautiful place and I wouldn't trade my time there for anything but things hadn't been smooth for almost any of the time we were there. We NEEDED Orre, none of us would openly state it but we were all really tightly wound up when we left Hoenn. Still while our level gain had dropped precipitously while we were taking it easy our internalization of our past experiences evened it out and even helped my pokemon improve their move mastery.-
Gaia had reached master in three of her moves and even transcendent in one of them and the rest of my pokemon were only slightly worse. Aranyani had mastered two moves and her innate ability but hadn't transcended any moves yet. Vulcan had mastered one move and transcended another. Rune mastered two moves and Tank four and one transcended. Hades had mastered three moves as well and the little one hadn't improved too much since maturing since he had been focusing on his energy control mostly.
