chapter 29
29 – Sign if you’re scared
“Fifth grade. Did you say Rigel de Fagenhau?”
“Yes. That’s right.”
“Excellent. Naga Qigong and the traditional martial arts of Count Fagenhau blend very well. There is no other place to blemish. I’ll give you an A.”
“Thank you.”
Rigel returns to the crowd with his shield and hammer. And he goes to Octavia’s side as if it were natural. She was always surrounded by cliques of her own.
Seven students from the Knights Faculty of noble families. The atmosphere was cold. If there is a commotion, it’s just that I’m not shouting because it’s in the stands where everyone can see, but this was an atmosphere that would explode once the midterm evaluation was over.
“Good job. Rigel.”
“Yes. Miss.”
“You and me. The 7 idiots behind me and the midterm grades themselves aren’t bad. It’s because I can’t even carry out my orders properly.”
Everyone flinches at her words.
As if Octavia is annoyed, she sits on one side of the crowd and looks at Seria, who is still waiting for her turn. She is an unseemly person who challenges her far and wide. A b*tch like a sticking thorn that was the only thing she could touch in her own smooth, flawless, silky life.
“I’m angry that the 7 people who went, even accompanied by Lady Polomona from the Faculty of Magic, couldn’t deal with Dei, and even lied, but what annoys me more than that is Rigel. It’s you. Wasn’t it much simpler for you? It was Seria. Are you at a loss because you can’t handle even one b*tch with your martial arts level?”
Rigel wanted to make an excuse. Dayman did something. Something empty! It bounced off with a sound and seemed to collapse, but soon passed out. He wanted to say that he didn’t even know why, but Octavia was a woman who hated making excuses.
“Sorry.”
“After the midterm evaluation, everyone come to the mansion.”
Everyone closes their eyes tightly. It was because I instinctively sensed that my shins and cheeks would not be left today. After making everyone tremble, Octavia glared at Seria in disgust.
Then she suddenly laughs.
“Yes. I don’t know what test you prepared for, but try it somewhere. I will make it very fun.”
Her swordsmanship was currently at its peak. 5Th grade, of course. She has a monstrous growth rate and perfected fighting ability that is said to be eaten even in upper grades like 6th and 7th grade.
Judgment and my qigong. Swordsmith. Footwork and combat sense. It was Octavia who was evaluated as a perfect woman who lacked nothing. She’s a rare monster. A genius that comes out once in a century, etc.
Her words of praise for her were innumerable.
And those words were by no means exaggerated.
“I’ll press it. Ceria. The most desperate and cruel thing in front of everyone.”
She muttered that with a grin.
Seria’s turn was approaching.
“You missed the knife.”
“Gyo, professor, that’s……”
“As a prosecutor, this is an attitude that is not even basic. I will give you F. It is paid.”
“Ah. I’m nervous… Ha, if you give me one more chance…”
“There is no turning back. Ask the other professors and everyone in the audience. Whether my rating is an absurd result.”
“………”
“There is no promotion to 6th grade.”
A student from the Faculty of Engineering who gloomily dropped his sword picked it up and trudged up to the stands shamefully. There was no consolation. Grade F. Retention was a score that was not usually given. It was said that the level of the students was so miserable.
Who do you blame? It was the fault of the student who did not make even the most basic level of effort.
“Thank you for your hard work. Professor Arkhamfeld. And the next student… Wait a minute.”
Looking over the turntable, the staff’s expression distorts as they try to call the next turn. The staff, who looked and looked again and again, wondering if there was something wrong, soon approached the professors in the judging table, received confirmation of something, and announced the next student with a puzzled expression.
“From the Battle Mage Faculty!……… Ms. Seria de Xavier!!”
A buzz began to spread. It was because some students knew that Seria had come to the exam center for the Knights Faculty, but there were more students who didn’t.
“Seria de Xavier?”
“Are you from a family that makes a living off of crystal processing?”
“Are you from a traditional wizarding family? Why does a guy like that come to take the engineering department exam?”
“Students can freely decide the contents of the test, but what is this…….. Are you trying to fight?”
“A. Are you saying you’re crazy? Didn’t you prepare something like a magic experiment?”
“That’s what general departments do. Isn’t she a battle mage? Also, if I said that I was conducting a magic experiment, would the professors from the Faculty of Engineering over there recognize me?”
Seria hears a murmur and quietly steps forward, holding onto her wand and her wand. Seria slowly descends to the exam hall and stands tall. Seeing her like that, her murmur diminishes. What kind of test did the battle mage prepare for at the Faculty of Knights? Because of that curiosity.
“Ms. Seria de Xavier. This is the Faculty of Knights. You are free to take whatever test you have prepared, but I will tell you in advance that we only give evaluations in Dalian.”
“The perfection of battle magic. I don’t rate this. We are not in charge of battle mages. Do you understand this?”
Seria silently nodded her head at the professors’ questions from the judges.
“I will be thoroughly evaluated only through Dalian.”
“To Dalian…?”
“Yes. That’s right.”
The professors in the judging table also begin to mutter. A battle mage comes alone to apply for sparring at the Knights Faculty?
This was unprecedented. A battle mage is a job that serves as both a nuke and a supporter in real combat, not a one-on-one fight with knights.
She is Seria who declares that she will do ridiculous crazy things, but what will she do. Romellen’s exams were set by the students. Not professors. In the first place, they were not qualified to stop her Seria.
“Okay. Which professor are you planning to sparr with?”
“I am not a professor. I will be evaluated by sparring with students.”
“A student? Which student are you planning to sparr with?”
Seria looks at the crowd. Octavia rose from her seat as if she had been waiting. She had a confident smile on her face. Seria points at Octavia with her wand.
“Octavia de Heperion.”
The crowd in the crowd explodes.
“Isn’t that woman crazy?”
“Darling with Octavia?”
“Did you not see the test you just took?”
Amidst the buzz of absurdity and ridicule, Octavia screams loudly.
“Accept!! Lady Seria de Xavier!! Let’s fight!!”
After she cried, I started to come down her stairs. Up to this point, Octavia’s expression wasn’t bad. Her face was such that I could feel the aspirations that I would crush that b*tch in front of everyone.
“And Rigel de Fagenhau. I will do sparring with two people at the same time. This is the test I have been preparing for.”
But when Seria pointed the wand at Rigel, Octavia’s expression twisted. The murmur now exploded into shrill jeers.
“Is that four year old battle mage crazy!!!”
“To face two A+ and A-ranked knights alone?”
“Is the Knights Faculty funny?!”
Despite the loud booing, the professors and staff couldn’t even think of calming the students down. In principle, it was a sound that should never be heard in the sacred testing ground. It’s rudely booing! The reason why Professor Arkhamfeld and the rest of the professors in the judging panel, who should have been shouting, were silent was simple.
“Ms. Seria de Xavier. Is the Knights Faculty funny?”
It was because they also had the same thoughts as the students.
This was a challenge.
It was a challenge to the knight faculty of a battle mage, but more than that, it was a challenge to the entire tactical system that had been accumulated before.
“No, it’s not like that. I just want to take the test.”
“Competing with two or more students is only possible if you consider all of them inferior to yourself. That’s a huge insult.”
“I didn’t know because it wasn’t the Faculty of Engineering. However, I have no intention of withdrawing from the exam. I am confident of winning.”
Heots are now replaced with angry shouts.
“Miss Octavia! Go and press it!!!”
“Is the Knights Faculty funny?!!!!”
“If you pardon a wizard, stand still from the back like a wizard and fire a scope! What sparring! Dalian is!!!!!”
It was to the point that even the professors seriously questioned whether this exam should be stopped. It wasn’t because it was absurd in their standards that the Knights Faculty could lose, it was because they thought that Octavia and Rigel might heat up properly and seriously injure Seria.
“Miss Seria. This test. Please reconsider. If you wish, I can change the order to the battle mage side of the test site right now…”
“Octavia!! Rigel!!!!!”
At the professors’ words, Seria looked at the two people in the stands and called her name. The corners of her mouth go up slightly.
The perfect mocking expression.
“Cheol?”
At that word, the noisy audience suddenly became quiet. Even the professors kept their mouths shut.
In the midst of the terrible silence, Octavia suddenly burst into laughter.
“Yes. Miss Seria. Let’s do it. Dalian you want. I’ll do it for you.”
Octavia gets off at the exam hall with a smile on her face. Rigel also followed her and headed to her test site.
Rigel was expressionless and Octavia was smiling brightly.
As if something good happened.
But she knew all the students in the Faculty of Engineering who were in the same year as her.
That wasn’t laughing for joy.
It was a laugh that came out the moment the anger exceeded the threshold.
In a nutshell, the present Octavia was in a very dangerous state.
“What are you doing? Professors? Let’s start Please make a quick start declaration.”
Octavia draws out her rapier, and Rigel holds her shield and hammer firmly in her hands. In the unusual atmosphere of the two, Professor Arkhamfeld hurries down to the test site.
“Ms. Seria!! Quit! You could get seriously hurt!”
“You may get hurt during sparring. Isn’t it?”
“It means you could be seriously injured! It means that even if we try to stop it, we may be late during the urgent sparring!”
“I will sign the pledge. Please prepare a written oath that it is okay to be seriously injured. Instead.”
Seria looks at Octavia and Rigel.
“Please let me get a signature saying that the other side is free from serious injuries as well. Then there is no problem, right?”
“I will do it. I just want to quickly start Miss Seria’s test. Professor. Could you prepare a written oath?”
Professor Arkhamfeld’s face turns earthy.
Sometimes this happened.
It is the case that the emotional rift deepens between the sons of nobles from rival families, and a scuffle unfolds with only words.
It was the responsibility of the professors to prevent that, but as I said, Romellen’s mid-term and final evaluations were a structure in which the professors had to listen to the students when they prepared for the exam. In a word, it also meant that there would be no way for the professors to stop it if the two students insisted on engaging in a brawl.
At that time, what was needed was a written oath.
Even if you get hurt while sparring, the professor is not responsible, and the responsibility for this problem rests entirely with the students who signed the oath.
Of course, even if the oath was signed, if a serious injury occurred, it was natural for the professor to have no direct responsibility, but bad voices would come out. It was obvious that the seriously injured student’s relationship with the family would also change.
‘Please…… Please, don’t worry. Please.’
Professor Arkhamfeld had no choice but to prepare the oath with a face about to cry.
Professor Arkhamfeld eagerly looked at Seria, Octavia, and Rigel with faces like cows who voluntarily entered the slaughterhouse, but the three of them didn’t even care about the professor’s situation from the beginning.
The names of the three were written on the oath.
