Chapter 1: Welcome to the Help System!
Confused, a young man with dark hair seems to wake up from a dream.
— Where... am I?
The last thing he remembers is going to sleep after binge-watching the entire JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series again. No breaks. Not even for the bathroom!
— Wait… did someone just say "welcome," or am I losing it?
Still groggy, the young man tries to regain his sanity and figure out what's real and what's just sleep-induced nonsense.
[I'm sorry to inform you, but this is not a dream.]
— What?! Where's that voice coming from?
[Once again, Host, welcome to the Help System.]
"Help System?" What kind of crazy thing is this…?
— Then help me by first explaining who you are and why you suddenly appeared!
[Understood.]
In a straightforward way, the system explains that I died of exhaustion in my previous life (probably from too much anime and too little self-care), and I've been reincarnated into this new world as a second chance.
As for the system itself... well, it does exactly what the name says. It's here to help me. Simple as that.
> [Would you like to import the original body's memories?]
— Yes.
Without hesitation, I decide to find out who I am now.
— Holy crap!
It feels like someone is hammering my head as the memories start flooding in all at once.
— What a sad life… if I can even call it that.
The original owner of this body was named Akira Kurosawa, and his life was pretty similar to mine — trouble fitting in, social anxiety… But unlike me, he recently lost his parents. And he couldn't bear the loneliness.
It must've been rough.
— Rest in peace.
I hope his soul can find peace now.
— I'll make this life worth it.
Motivated by the chance to start over — and by a sense of responsibility toward the body's former owner — I decide to do my best in this new life.
After I get used to the flow of memories, the system speaks up again.
[Now that the Host has assimilated the memories, I'd like to explain some functions.]
The system is divided into simple sections. The Status tab shows my age, skills, assets, and total money.
There are two main categories:
Self-help
Helping others (currently locked for some reason)
Under the Self-help tab, I can see three options:
[Self-help:
– Monthly Lucky Spin
– Weekly Gift
– Daily Missions]
Three simple yet promising options.
[Host, please open the weekly gift and spin the monthly wheel to receive skills, assets, or money.]
No reason not to give it a try, right?
I start with the monthly spin.
When I press the button, a massive prize wheel appears in front of me, filled with all sorts of rewards.
— Man, this thing is so huge I can't even see everything I might get!
Without overthinking, I spin the wheel.
After what feels like an eternity, it finally starts to slow down.
[Congratulations! You've obtained the skill Business Boss. Would you like to see the skill description?]
— Of course!
[Skill: Business Boss
This skill makes it easier to manage and grow businesses. It also helps you identify profitable opportunities quickly.]
— Now that's what I'm talking about! A skill to secure my future!
Who hasn't dreamed of making easy money? This skill is a dream come true!
Next, I open the weekly gift.
[Bonus reward for your first weekly gift.
You received ¥500,000 plus a 50% bonus.]
— Holy crap! ¥750,000?! That's a ton of money!
But... come to think of it, my situation in this world is kind of rough. No parents to support me, living alone, and working part-time...
— This system really is helpful.
Seeing that the system is already doing its job, I make a promise:
— I'll make this life one where I actually succeed!
I still don't know what kind of world I've ended up in, but for now… this goal is enough.
Though soon, everything is about to change.
