A Certain Flying Head in MHA

Chapter 68: Chapter 65

"GRAAHH!" With a grunt, I was sent flying as I traded yet another blow with the giant Infront of me. "Heh." Even with my blood partially obscuring my vision, I couldn't help but sneer in amusement at the irony.

A house spirit turned false giant fighting against a skyscraper-sized freak of nature MIASMA CATALYSTS OF ALL THINGS!

And yet, it was the absurdity of this situation that brought a frenzied grin on my face.

I crashed on the ground, leaving behind a small crater. As soon as I've gotten contact with the ground, my injuries healed almost instantaneously as the energy of the earth mended me. I might've lost my powers of fate and luck, but I certainly ain't a pushover.

"THAT ALL YA GOT, YA DAFT SOD?!" I screamed at the thing, I felt it's attention settle on my form. "AH'VE SHED MORE BLOOD PLUCKING A ROSE, YA JUST'TA LUMP OF CLOUD!" As soon as he attacked, I jumped back into the fray.

That's right. Look at me. All eyes on me, and only me, I'm your opponent. No need ta feel the Red lass cutting you up, no need see the little dolly lass sealing her bits 'n' pieces. Don't mind the others doing their own things and just pay attention ta me.

"TAKE THIS YA STUPID WANKER!" Another strike was exchanged, this time I managed to roll with the momentum just right to put an extra hit in before I had to jump away from another incoming attack.

I miss the days when I quietly tended to a home, watching the little ones frolic about, but I'd be lying if I said that I don't enjoy where I am now. The blood-pumping battles, the thrill of the rush, getting up close and personal, all of it is just something else.

I felt a prickling sensation on my skin as a sudden spike of spiritual energy went off behind me. I felt it close in, I kept my eyes up front on the next attack just as spots of red appeared all over.

'Glad that kid's gotten better.' I smirked at the scene unfolding before me. The only way I could describe it was a sea of red heads. The cackling, giggling, laughing, screaming... Honestly, that brat could've done without all this noise.

Sitting down on the ground with my legs crossed, I watched on as the swarm of those annoying buggers absorbed that monstrosity at a rate visible to the naked human eye. I watched on as those heads began to glow dangerously red and still continued to devour.

I watched on as the heads exploded in a bright flash of crimson in a suicidal wave. Their light replacing the shining stars.

My throat parched up at that scene.

'It was just much to close to that girl, all those years ago.'

I watched as the giant thing shrunk down. It has sensed the danger to its existence and began attacking wildly.

'Those red eyes, that crimson spear, and that blood red moon.'

Memories of bloodsoaked battlefield rose to the surface of my mind. I feel like I was standing back at that place again. Thousands upon thousands have been slain, their lifeblood streaming from the corpses and pooling together into a single crimson orb.

'Folks from the land loved by the gods are something else...'

Those deceptively dainty hands with nary a single scar or callous, looked as if they never seen a day of hard labor, grabbing hold of the sphere of blood.

'And I couldn't help but respect that.'

And that fanged smile.

With Kuroko off to explain my plain to the others, I can have a peace of mind to focus on the task.

As my heads dealt damage to the thing on the outside, I dived into the giant miasma catalyst. It was dark, all my senses were duller, muted. The feeling of being trapped in that place started to grow before the bell chimed. Snapping out of it, I absorbed and devoured as much of the energy as I can, the Bell's chime repeatedly ringing as it did it's part of the job to calm both me and it down so it wouldn't retaliate from being eaten.

I felt the fullest that I've ever been. It feels as if I would explode from the amount of energy I was taking. I offset It by making more heads to help attack It from both inside and outside but as it went on for a few seconds, then seconds turned to moments, moments turned to minutes until I couldn't hold it any much longer.

I rushed back out and Kuroko teleported to my side before we disappeared and reappeared somewhere. Without hesitation, I ran into the entrance back to the real world.

Was it a bad and inefficient idea to use this energy to attack All for One? It is. But I'm also feeling quite vindictive right now and the irony of it isn't lost on me. Attacking him using the energy from a miasma catalyst caused by his actions sounds really good right now.

Exiting the rubble of the store, I felt the sunlight prickle my skin and I single-mindedly and hastily created more heads in a speed I've haven't reached before. I didn't have the mind to think about the quantity or quality of the heads, only the speed at which I used up the excess energy. The bell is calming it down, but the excess is still stretching the limits of my body.

Only once I was done with them did I finally managed to take a look at what I've done.

In my error, I made all of these heads. There are about roughly triple my usual amount, however, these heads weren't bad, but they were definitely different.

They are, how do I put this?... Shadowy. More like will-o-wisps if they were shadows instead of fire. And despite being smokey, they still have the distinct, albeit mannequin-like, features of my face... Along with their own ribbon at the back of their heads, for some reason.

When the new heads took to the skies, it surprised the heroes. Having a cloud of darkness rapidly approaching them sounds ominous, but having the said cloud have shining red eyes that gleam like jewels? It spooked a few of them that they attacked on sight. They were only stopped by someone that recognised the features but the attacks have already been flung and they soon reached some of my heads.

To my disappointment, these new heads were fragile. They have a lot less durability than what my normal heads should have and they get dispelled much quicker. Adding to my dismay, because of my hasty creation, the new heads didn't even have enough energy to fire an eye laser.

The Bell's chime rang out.

Plenty of the new heads are gone by the time they are halfway through. The backlash from having those new heads get dispelled weren't as bad as the normal ones, so that's a ray of sunshine. Since those didn't last long, I opted to make some of the regular heads to go after them from behind while making sure to save enough energy for emergenies. Kuroko has already briefed me about their plan but right now, it seemed that they failed to lead him away.

Most of the city is reduced to rubble, there's even a giant robot that's only fighting with one limb, the other was probably teared apart and thrown into the distance. The other heroes are doing using their quirks to help out the heavy hitters. Mt. Lady is already down for the count, having been knocked unconscious and is leaning on ruined buildings. Taking her place is the dragon hero, Ryuku, who is now injured with lacerations, lost scales and a ripped wing. Even All Might looks as if he's running on fumes.

We couldn't readily anticipate for reinforcements from other top rankers like Best Jeanist or Endeavour. Just in the short term, Gigantomachia is a threat that's just as devastating as All For One. Not to mention that during the initial confrontation, we didn't even see a single shadow of Dr. Garaki or their teleporter, which would make them long-term threats, relegating the need for multiple teams to look for and hunt them down.

Divide and conquer. It was why this battle hasn't been joined by other villains.

Any manpower we have right now is a blessing, we have to work on the assumption that we can only rely on ourselves because that's the most likely scenario.

The Bell's chime rang out.

I flew out and headed back for the sky just as my head began to ache from the lost heads. My main strength is in my heads, I don't need to risk coming in close right now. The old plan is ruined, I wasn't privy to the specifics because Nedzu is a paranoid rat. But whatever it may be, it's ruined now.

There are those who don't know me, but that is understandable. Those in the crowd that do know of who I am, they are visibly relieved and also confused. It's fine. It's something I can explain later. Just having them boost their morale a bit by knowing that I'm well and here is good enough for now.

The Bell's chime rang out.

The concrete caved beneath their heavy steps and the air quaked at their thunderous screams. The sky were torn asunder at the weight of their attacks, with myriads of quirks utilized in all sorts of ways both bizarre and unique. It became a battle of attrition, the back-and-forth hits of kicking, punching and throwing have made more destruction to be left in our wake.

The Bell's chime rang out.

It was a scene worthy of a renaissance painting, to be displayed and passed on in history, and my hands were itching to pick up a brush.

The Bell's chime rang out.

No. It wasn't just my hands that were shaking. My heart is also pounding hard in my chest, and I felt like I was suffocating despite being able to breathe well. My head throbbed severely in pain even when it wasn't supposed to with the heads I've lost so far.

I took in the scene playing out in front of me. And it was there.

Those same red eyes.

They were looking at me.

The Bell's chime gently rang out in comfort.

Clutching my throat, I choked on a breath and quickly flew further away, closer to the skies than to the ground. I wondered whether it was a trick of the light, or a trick of the mind.

Then I noticed it wasn't a trick.

It was a memory.

A memory that can from a head. One that wasn't formed immediately from me.

That's when I noticed that All For One was getting weaker. Other than whatever it is that he used to become big and sustain his size, he hasn't used any other quirks even when the opportunity presented itself. Someone like him wouldn't be troubled at the slightest about guilt or casualties so the only reason must be that rather than he didn't want to, but because he actually couldn't do so!

The real kicker are the new heads.

Those guys are weak, and fragile, and they couldn't even attack by themselves, they are incomplete. However, it is precisely because they are incomplete that they have their own special kind of effect. Those new heads would absorb the strength and spiritual energy of whatever or whoever source they come into contact with.

In other words, a debuff.

These pseudo-parasitic heads can end this battle quicker. All these heroes gathered here today are dealing sufficient damage to All for One, the problem is that he recovers from whatever we inflict on him while the heroes couldn't heal from their wounds and injuries.

A giggle bubbled from my lips and I felt my expression twist in glee.
