Chapter 43 - The Country Cat's Misfortunes
“Shouldn’t you consider getting a new computer…?”
“It’s too expensive. Look, it’s still working fine.”
After giving the computer tower a light tap, I pressed the power button. As usual, the computer started up with its usual defiant hum, but I ignored it and sat back in my chair.
“……Okay, but isn’t the stream still on right now?”
“Hmm… Not sure?”
While waiting for the computer to boot, I spun my chair around and around until I got dizzy and naturally flopped onto the bed.
“Ugh… I feel dizzy.”
“Oh, unnie, the computer’s on.”
Minyoung clicked the mouse, and as she opened Twitch again, the streaming screen appeared. The camera wasn’t broadcasting, showing only a black screen with Minyoung adjusting the settings and a small, white cat sprawled out on the bed, looking shorter than 160 cm.
– Hey, calm down with the chat!
– The most chat-exploding stream in the world, ranked #1
– LOL
Aroalo: All lag issues are fixed, yep.
“Oh… Thank you. Unnie, hurry back.”
Minyoung was calling me, the owner of the stream, but I was still dizzy and too comfortable in these pajamas to want to move.
“I don’t want to… Why don’t you stream for a bit?”
“………I… don’t know how.”
“Just… anything… Read the chat… or do anything fun you want…”
“Really…?”
I glanced at the small chat window showing between my sister’s arms, noticing that I could just barely make it out, so I relaxed and decided to watch her handle the stream.
– LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL
– No-show is kinda bad
– But actually, it’s great.
– Just spam LOL
“Uh… Hello, I’m Baraa’s sister… um… Minyoung, more or less.”
“Hm? Are you okay sharing your name?”
“I don’t mind. Or, is there something else you’d recommend?”
“I dunno… Maybe ask the viewers?”
Collective wisdom can be surprisingly helpful. I’d felt that often enough, and surely, my viewers would suggest some good names.
Aroalo: Mint… Choco..?
– Execution
– Off with that person’s head!!!!
– Why would you eat such toothpaste flavor LOL
CoffeeIsBeer: Why not? It’s good.
“Eek… So, what do you think?”
“Mint chocolate… No thanks…”
Thankfully, it seemed we had similar tastes. If we ever went out for ice cream together, it looked like we wouldn’t argue over choices.
Now, I was craving chocolate ice cream.
“Um… Nothing else is really coming to mind…?”
“Then let’s just go with calling you by your name, Minyoung.”
“Got it, got it. Now, hurry back to your seat, Baraa.”
“Got it… Ugh…up…”
With effort, I raised my languid body and leaned back in the empty chair.
“Hmm… What kind of stream should we do today~?”
– We don’t know either.
– Maybe just Q&A or something?
“Q&A… like, what kind?”
– Uh… Are you both from Seoul? I live here, but I’ve never seen either of you… or on Insta or anything.
“Oh… We’re from the countryside. Lived there until… what, 1 or 2 years ago? My sister’s been here for 2 years now, and I’ve been here for about a year.”
– Two country girls, OMG
– Why doesn’t my countryside have people like this?
– Do you guys have an accent, then?
“Accent…? Oh… yeah, we did, but after moving to Seoul, we hardly use it. Sometimes I’ll say stuff like ‘Whoa…’ though.”
“Whoa.”
Don’t Leave Me Out of the Group Project donated 1,000 won!
– Please do the stream in dialect
“Uh… thank you… but… is it really necessary?”
“What’s so good about it, I wonder?”
As I was mulling over the reason, Minyoung suddenly spoke in a familiar and nostalgic accent.
“………Heh… I’m not really sure. Um… what should I call you, then… viewers? So, viewers, is this really something you enjoy?”
– It’s the best!! Baraa!!
– Country girl Baraa!!!! Country girl Baraa!!!!
– Don’t leave out Minyoung!!!
“I guess it’s good.”
“Seems like it, huh? Uh… unnie, do you have anything else to talk about?”
“Hmm… I don’t really have anything to talk about… Oh.”
The memory of visiting her school a few days ago popped into my head, and I clapped my hands as I came up with a topic.
“So, do you know what happened to me when I went to your school a few days ago?”
“Hmm… Not really. Weren’t you just there to pick me up?”
“Ah… you don’t even know… I’m heartbroken… Guess I should tell you.”
I turned my chair to face her, venting my frustration, confusion, and the strange events from that day, savoring the familiar comfort of chatting with Minyoung rather than streaming.

Lee Minyoung POV
“Phew… I’m thirsty. I’ll go get some water.”
“…Okay.”
As my sister went out to the living room, I looked at the warm, empty seat and thought,
She’s very lonely.
“Hey, everyone.”
– Yes?
– Oh, I really love this.
“…Please take good care of my sister. She’s very lonely. She moved to Seoul for me… and for a long time, she’s done nothing but work, and only recently has she been able to rest. Though it’s not for the best reason.”
The fast-scrolling chat slowed down, making me wonder if I’d said something wrong, but I didn’t mind. It seemed necessary to say it.
“She’s also not in the best health… and… she’s changed a lot lately. Um… Chocoa, are you here by any chance?”
Don’t Leave Me Out of the Group Project: Yes
“…Is that your main account?”
Don’t Leave Me Out of the Group Project: Shh
It might not have been, but the response resembled Chocoa’s reactions during her study streams, so I asked anyway.
“…My sister… really likes you, so… I’m asking you to look out for her…”
“What are you talking about?”
***
Lee Suyeon POV
“Uh… Did I talk too much?”
I rubbed my prickly throat, took a sip of water, filled my cup again, and returned to the room.
“What were you talking about?”
I thought I heard Chocoa’s name just now, and I felt curious about the serious conversation my sister seemed to be having.
“Uh… uh… just, um…”
“Were you talking about Chocoa?”
“Uh… yeah! That’s right… just saying how fun her streams are…”
“…Hmm~”
Feeling a bit proud, I put down the cup and sat back in the chair.
“You all should watch Chocoa’s streams. She’s the best.”
“Again…”
“No, no, listen… Lately, Chocoa’s been doing rhythm games a lot! And she’s even practicing for some kind of Lesik tournament! She only started Lesik recently…”
For a long time, I went on and on about Chocoa, happily waving my cat-eared headband. When I finally stopped talking and glanced to the side, my sister was gone. Only the sounds of her playing with Strawberry in the living room could be heard.
“…Ahem…”
Feeling awkward, I cleared my throat and drank some water.
“…….Huh?”
HandsomeYoonGae: Want to check Discord?
Curious about the familiar username, I tilted my head, trying to recall a vague memory as I stared at the screen name.
“…………Hmmm……”
HandsomeYoonGae: You seriously don’t remember me…?
“Uh… Who was that… It sounds familiar…”
– Poor YoonGae LOL
– He doesn’t even exist in her memory…
HandsomeYoonGae: …Just check Discord.
– Is he sulking? Is he actually sulking? LOL
“Uh… one moment…”
Realizing I was half-leaning back in my chair, I straightened up, grabbed the mouse, and clicked a few times to open Discord. I saw dozens of unread messages piled up in a single call room.
“Oh… could it be…?”
I suddenly remembered Yoon Gae, the guest on Chocoa’s stream and her Lesik coach from when I’d played with her recently.
“…….”
I was about to check the messages stacked in the call room but froze in place.
HandsomeYoonGae – Today, 5:04 PM
@ILoveChocoa@ILoveChocoa@ILoveChocoa@ILoveChocoa@ILoveChocoa… (repeated dozens of times)
HandsomeYoonGae – Today, 4:05 PM
@ILoveChocoa@ILoveChocoa@ILoveChocoa@ILoveChocoa@ILoveChocoa… (repeated dozens of times)
HandsomeYoonGae – Today, 4:59 PM
So you’re finally checking this…
“…I’m sorry…”
Quickly, I entered the call room, and Yoon Gae, who’d been waiting for hours, began to speak.
“I’m sorry…”
“…It’s okay… I get it. Maybe you don’t like someone like me…”
But instead of the loud voice I’d expected, his voice came out dejected over the headset.
“I’m really sorry… I got too caught up… How can I make it up to you?”
“…Then!!!”
Suddenly, he shouted, making me flinch, but Yoon Gae continued without missing a beat.
“Join a Lesik tournament with me!!!”
“…Huh?”
