Chapter 8 - I'll Become a Villain -4
Looking at the shattering glass, Chun Sehee smiled.
“You idiot.”
It was a smile clearly filled with malice.
“I guess we’ll just have to try.”
“Yeah, let’s go.”
The woman and Kkomul-i exchanged glances and soon began to merge. It was an ability that Kkomul-i possessed.
Slightly melting, Kkomul-i wrapped around the woman’s body.
The woman’s body turned black. Like ink dropped on a white canvas.
The woman stretched her hand forward.
Simultaneously, tentacles rose from the shadows. They were ready to battle at any moment.
‘A thief stealing someone else’s invention.’
In Chun Sehee’s opinion, the woman probably had this as her goal from the beginning.
Her pride was hurt. The fact that the product of years of work was stolen right before her eyes.
But Chun Sehee soon suppressed her anger.
‘They’ll die anyway, so whatever.’
It was as she thought. Soon, the battle between the merged woman and tentacle slimes began.
The slimes thrust their powerful tentacles. The woman deflected them all at once with a giant octopus tentacle and continued her counterattack with another tentacle.
It was a heavy, powerful, and strong swing.
The slimes quickly evaded, but one or two were flattened.
Even in the midst of this, Chun Sehee didn’t lose her composure.
“…Why are there so many!”
The woman’s voice expressing complaint.
Yes, that was precisely the issue.
“There are a lot, right?”
“Why are there so many…”
“I’ve played with quite a few people.”
“You bitch…!”
Unfortunately.
As time passed, the slimes began to gain the upper hand in the battle.
“Tsk.”
The woman frowned.
Unlike her initial confidence, the situation didn’t look easy.
The woman blocked all the wildly swinging tentacles. When a tentacle struck down, she deflected it with her own; when one thrust, she blocked it.
Even though they were just starting to coordinate, their synergy was quite good.
I’ll admit it.
For a first time, that level of skill is very impressive.
Then.
“But there’s no business like a mob in front of a mob.”
For us, it’s just about pushing with numbers.
Dozens? No, maybe hundreds.
The result of playing with many victims. It was hard to even estimate how many women had been sacrificed to create those slimes.
“…Tch.”
The woman clicked her tongue. She was starting to look overwhelmed.
Whoosh.
As the woman extended her arm, a tentacle stretched out and struck one of the slimes. Soon, other tentacles joined in killing the slime.
With a splat, one slime burst.
But the cost was devastating.
Numerous tentacles flew in, targeting the woman. She tried to defend with her own, but she couldn’t block everything.
Splat.
A tentacle striking her body.
Soon, the woman’s body staggered slightly. Despite it being a tiny gap, the slimes gathered.
Like ants gathering around honey.
“It’s over.”
It’s over now. Chun Sehee’s mocking voice echoed.
The woman stared at the approaching slimes and then.
“The only thing that’s over is your life, you empty-headed bitch.”
Instead, she loudly insulted Chun Sehee. Chun Sehee, about to shout in anger, momentarily stopped her action.
What was that supposed to mean?
Looking closely, there were also several tentacles moving behind the woman. Very busily.
“What are you doing?”
Chun Sehee looked at the tentacles.
And she realized. The woman’s scheme.
‘…Soju bottles.’
Behind the woman were many soju bottles. They were all open, with tissue papers stuffed in their mouths.
Shifting her gaze, she looked at a container with yellow liquid.
It was an oil container. An oil container she hadn’t put away out of laziness after using it to fuel the heater last winter.
The oil, fully absorbed into the tissues, was being stuffed into the mouths of the soju bottles.
Chun Sehee finally realized what the woman was creating.
“Are you crazy…?”
Molotov cocktails.
“Stop…!”
“Why?”
“Because!”
“Ah, perhaps.”
The woman looked at her for a moment, then sneered.
“Are these creatures weak to fire?”
Chun Sehee couldn’t say anything.
The woman was right. All slimes are weak to fire.
They just melt instantly when they touch fire. How on earth did that woman know this?
How did she know to even think of making Molotov cocktails!
“With… withdraw!”
Despite her urgent shout, they wouldn’t listen.
They’re creatures without intelligence, after all. They just act on instinct.
As the slimes advanced, clumped together.
BOOM!!
They began to be engulfed by the erupting flames.
As the woman moved her tentacles, they grabbed a few more Molotov cocktails.
The room became a complete inferno as they were thrown simultaneously.
Though the sprinklers belatedly put out the fire, it was already too late.
Annihilation.
The outcome was the annihilation of the slimes.
“Now, who’s the idiot?”
As the woman clenched her hands together, tentacles shot out from the shadows.
Those blunt-like things would have no trouble breaking Chun Sehee’s bones.
And those tentacles.
“Rot in prison for the rest of your life.”
Clearly showed will.
The will to smash Chun Sehee.
“Never crawl out again.”
The next thing Chun Sehee saw was a giant tentacle descending upon her.
+++++
“Haah… it hurts…”
“Kyu… you worked hard.”
“Ugh… don’t talk, just do the pain relief properly.”
“I’m trying.”
As evening came, on the way back home.
Noah stared blankly at the large wound that had appeared on her arm, then quickly covered it with her clothes.
She walked, deliberately ignoring her slightly stinging arm.
That damn monster appeared again today.
It’s good to absorb magical power and get stronger, but these days it’s too much.
Far too much.
It was rare to encounter them so consecutively, it was something unimaginable before.
These days, with increasing incidents, her body was tired.
But what can she do?
If this is the path she has chosen, she can only walk it silently.
It would be nice if there was someone to whine to a little bit.
“…Get it together, Na Noah.”
Noah slapped her cheek with a smack! Her cheek turned red and stinging.
Already becoming so weak, what are you going to do?
Hurry home, get treated, eat, and sleep.
These nonsensical thoughts keep coming because she’s tired.
‘…Come to think of it, I still have the ramen that person gave me.’
The face of the man who supplied food, claiming it was being discarded every time she visited the convenience store, came to mind.
So what on earth was the man doing there?
Was he simply constipated and in the restroom for a long time?
She couldn’t know.
If she asked, it would reveal that she had been following him.
Well, anyway, there’s no reason to be suspicious of the ramen. Let’s quickly go and make some ramen.
She was hurrying her steps with such thoughts when.
“Huh?”
She saw the man.
A man sitting on a bench, smoking.
The man’s face somehow looked more tired than usual.
“Hello… no, hi? What a coincidence, seeing you here.”
Suddenly using informal speech?
Well, this isn’t the convenience store.
The man is clearly older, so it’s natural.
She suddenly felt confused.
Hadn’t he been using formal speech until this morning?
That wasn’t all.
The man got up from his seat and slowly walked towards her.
“…If… if it’s okay with you…”
“…?”
“No, um… if it’s okay.”
“…?”
“Would you like to go eat with me?”
The man suddenly making a move and starting to hit on her.
He was always strange, but somehow she felt like he had become even stranger.
What on earth happened over the course of the day?
+++++
‘Is that the girl?’
‘Yes.’
I conversed with Kkomul-i, who was still residing within my body.
‘She looks cute.’
‘She’s at a cute age.’
It was purely coincidental. Meeting Noah.
After returning to my male body, I was on my way to buy beer.
I felt somewhat tired.
So I thought I’d just smoke a cigarette in the smoking area before going, and sat on the bench for a moment.
During that brief smoke. I saw a girl staggering in the distance.
It was Noah.
‘What a coincidence. Meeting like this here.’
‘Shin Hyun.’
‘Yes?’
‘They say if coincidences continue, it’s fate.’
I chuckled at Kkomul-i’s words. It was a statement befitting a romance novel fanatic.
I believe in fate too, but isn’t that a bit forced?
I waved my hand slightly, just to say hello. Noah approaching me. Just as I was about to greet her as usual.
‘How did you usually greet her?’
‘Just something like ‘hello.’ And then a slight bow too.’
‘What is that? That feeling like a customer and a part-timer.’
Well, that’s what we are.
‘You’ll never move a woman’s heart like that!’
‘Then what should I do?’
Kkomul-i made a contemplative sound and then said.
‘Let’s show a different side from usual.’
‘A different side from usual?’
‘Gap moe. Someone who’s usually just kind suddenly uses informal speech and shows a different side? This is what’s delicious.’
It was hard to understand. I could just greet her normally. But this creature has read a lot of romance novels.
Maybe it knows more about these things than I do?
…Well, certainly, gaining Noah’s favor won’t hurt.
As long as we don’t get too close and do anything inappropriate.
Of course, I will absolutely never make the first move. Then the only option left is Noah making a move on me.
As if that would happen.
I took a breath and decided to follow Kkomul-i’s advice.
“Hello… no, hi?”
The first time I used informal speech with Noah. In response, Noah showed a confused expression.
It couldn’t be helped. Someone who had been using formal speech until this morning was suddenly like this.
‘Shin Hyun! Don’t chicken out, go for it!’
‘No, is this right?’
‘The brave ones get the beauties!’
Words from a self-proclaimed romance expert. After pondering for a moment, I threw out something I’ve always wanted to say to Noah.
“…If… if it’s okay with you…”
“…?”
“No, um… if it’s okay.”
“…?”
“Would you like to go eat with me?”
I wanted to feed Noah.
Every time I saw Noah, I felt like a grandmother seeing her grandchild.
Oh my! Look how skinny our baby is! Don’t you eat at home!?
The difference would be that the grandchild is already chubby, while Noah is really skinny.
“…”
Noah remained silent for a moment. She seemed about to say something, then her eyes narrowed.
“…Did something happen to you today?”
“…”
“Or… just… um… are you crazy?”
“No.”
“…Hmm…”
Noah only gave a mysterious look.
A gaze somewhere between pity and looking at garbage.
Kkomul-i muttered.
‘Strange… this worked in novels…?’
I had hoped, but it was as expected.
Reality isn’t a romance fantasy, octopus girl.
A situation where I could easily be seen as trash hitting on a middle school girl.
I used a tactic to resolve the situation.
I had intended to use this after we became closer and in a more comfortable atmosphere.
“…Sigh, don’t worry about it. I’m just going to eat some soup.”
Soup.
“…Soup?”
“Yeah. I know a place that does it well. They make good kimchi and radish kimchi too… they even give some blood sausage as service… ah, I should just go alone and drink some soju-”
“…I’ll go with you.”
“Really?”
“But we’ll just eat and leave right away.”
It was the best means to lure Noah.
