Chapter 95: Chapter 79: The Twin Goddesses of Light and Darkness! Devour the World!
"Then I guess I'll just have to beat you to death!"
Rhode's face showed a helpless smile, the kind one gives when dealing with unreasonable people.
Did they really think numbers would change the outcome?
The Red Queen sneered, her expression as fiery as the phoenix she stood upon. Without warning, the crimson bird unleashed a torrent of flames, the scorching wave roaring toward Rhode.
Simultaneously, atop the gleaming spires of the castle, the White Queen raised her hands, and an ethereal light, cold and pale like a mirror's reflection, shot straight toward him.
These two were no ordinary enemies. As rulers of this enchanted realm, their strength had reached the level of semi-deities—powerful enough to strike fear into most.
But Rhode? He barely batted an eye.
"Fireflies challenging the sun and moon? Laughable."
The words had barely left his lips when the air around him shifted. A dark, oppressive force emerged, an unmistakable sign of his awakened demon god bloodline.
Behind Rhode, the shadows twisted and coalesced into four massive, otherworldly arms.
One arm swung toward the White Queen, its sheer force shattering the mirror-like light. Another reached into the sky, grasping the flaming phoenix in a grip so tight that its fiery aura flickered and waned.
The remaining two hands were not idle. One pulled the surrounding darkness into a swirling core, while the other added blindingly pure destruction. Together, they formed a black sun—a celestial body of annihilation radiating malice so potent it felt as if the world itself recoiled in fear.
"The sun falls."
With those three words, the black sun descended. Its shadow engulfed everything, swallowing both queens in an instant.
When the darkness receded, what remained was a mass of dark gold, writhing and struggling as though alive. Slowly, from the chaotic fusion, two figures emerged.
The battlefield fell silent.
The armies of red and white had already been annihilated by Rhode's forces. What remained was a stark world divided into zones of pure light and impenetrable dark.
From the molten gold, two women stepped forth.
They looked identical—like twins born of light and shadow.
One was radiant, her long golden hair cascading like sunlight. She wore a gown of pristine white embroidered with golden patterns, her six angelic wings glowing faintly. Her face held an icy elegance that exuded untouchable dignity.
The other was her mirror, her long black hair flowing like liquid night. She was clad in a dark violet dress, sultry and bewitching, her six pitch-black wings folding around her like a shroud. Her every move dripped with charm and temptation.
They were perfection, opposites fused in harmony.
The twin figures knelt before Rhode, their expressions soft, their gazes unwavering.
Rhode tilted his head, intrigued. These faces—they were identical to the Red Queen and the White Queen, yet something was different.
Typically, when chess pieces were consumed by him, they became little more than puppets, bound to his will. Yet these two radiated an aura of autonomy, as if their transformation had preserved their intelligence.
But there was no mistaking it—at their core, they were wholly his. Their loyalty, their purpose, even their thoughts revolved around him.
"From this day forward," Rhode began, his tone commanding, "you will be known as the Twin Goddesses of Light and Darkness. You—" he pointed to the golden-haired one, "—are Catherine, Goddess of Light."
His gaze shifted to the darker twin. "And you are Katherine, Goddess of Darkness."
The newly christened goddesses exchanged a glance, their expressions serene, before bowing deeply.
Curiosity flashed in Rhode's eyes. "Do either of you possess unique abilities?"
Catherine stepped forward, her voice as clear and pure as a temple bell. "We are of one origin, Master. Together, we can merge and wield all our powers as one."
Katherine extended her hand to Catherine, and the moment their fingers touched, their forms began to shimmer. Dark and light fused seamlessly, creating a single towering figure.
The fused goddess stood before Rhode, her beauty unparalleled. Half of her long hair gleamed gold, while the other half shimmered in black. Her three pairs of wings were a striking contrast of white and ebony.
Her face combined the aloof elegance of Catherine and the fiery allure of Katherine, elevating her already divine presence to something otherworldly.
Rhode raised an eyebrow, impressed. The aura she emitted was leagues above her individual forms. In this state, even some lesser gods would struggle to match her strength.
"Fascinating," Rhode murmured, an idea forming in his mind—one so audacious that it made even him pause.
Still, his attention was soon drawn to the horizon, where his Black-Gold Army stood in silent formation. Their aura of death and destruction had not yet faded, and their sheer numbers painted the land in dark shadows and radiant gold.
Within days, his forces had consumed every living thing in the fairyland realm. Looking down from the heavens, the world now resembled a chessboard of black and gold.
"But how do I leave this world?" Rhode mused aloud, his gaze lifting to the sky.
His entry into the fairyland had been unintentional, brought about by a certain rabbit. But the rabbit was long gone, and the path back to the material plane was nowhere in sight.
Forcibly breaking through the world's barriers was an option, but it came with risks. Worse, if he overstepped the world's limits, he could be exiled to the Star Boundary—a realm where gods dwelled.
He grimaced at the thought. Even with his power, navigating the Star Boundary and returning to the material world would be no simple task.
His brow furrowed. Unless... what if the entire world became mine?
As the idea took root, Rhode's expression shifted into one of determination.
"Let's give it a shot," he said, shrugging. "Worst case, I fail. No big deal."
Dark magic began to seep from him, saturating the fairyland. It moved like a living thing, infiltrating every corner of the world, claiming the land, the skies, and the very essence of its existence.
In the heavens, storm clouds gathered, the fury of the world's will manifesting as streaks of divine lightning.
"You dare to resist me?" Rhode smirked, gazing at the clouds. "Then strike, if you have the guts."
Bolts of lightning descended like wrathful gods, but Rhode merely raised his hand. A barrier of darkness formed, shielding him from the onslaught.
The battle raged as his power continued to consume the world. The more he claimed, the weaker the resistance became, until at last, the world's will faltered.
With a final roar of thunder, the sky cleared.
The fairyland world now belonged to Rhode.
Standing atop his new domain, Rhode felt the world's will submit to his own.
Looking at the land below, a strange thought crossed his mind.
Why does this place look... like a leaf?
